Prime Minister Pivić and Chairman Huskić on BiH Statehood Day: We pay tribute to all who gave their lives for BiH

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton Nezir Pivić and Chairman of the Assembly Ćazim Huskić sent congratulations on the occasion of November 25 - Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prime Minister and Chairman state that November 25 is one of the most significant dates in the past of Bosnia and Herzegovina because on this date in 1943, at the First Session of ZAVNOBiH in Mrkonjić Grad, the necessity of common political and state life of people in this region was confirmed, as well as the continuity of the state within the borders in which Bosnia and Herzegovina was internationally recognized in 1992.

Shortly after international recognition, they add, Bosnia and Herzegovina was attacked, and in defense against aggression and in the fight for the highest civilizational values, many BiH patriots gave their lives.

"Therefore, today we pay the highest tribute to the martyrs and fallen soldiers who gave their lives fighting under the flag of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and today we also pay tribute to the participants of the National Liberation War who also fought for the highest human values – equality, freedom, and homeland," the congratulatory message reads.

They convey that the institutions of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, by marking significant dates from the past, send a message that the sacrifice of patriots will never be forgotten and that it is the duty of institutions, and all of us, to cherish the achievements of the struggle for the homeland and to take care of the defenders and their families, which the institutions of this canton demonstrate through concrete measures and policies.

The institutions of the Zenica-Doboj Canton will mark BiH Statehood Day by laying flowers at the memorial to the NOB fighters 'Papirna' at 3:10 PM, and then at the memorial to the martyrs and fallen soldiers 'Kameni spavač' at 3:25 PM.

A formal academy will be held this evening at the Bosnian National Theatre starting at 7:00 PM.
