Montenegrin Prime Minister will not resign, US satisfied with his work

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapić said today that he will not resign because the Government has visible results.

Krivokapić said that the Government has a clear vision that is unequivocally oriented towards the future and that the projects it is working on are more recognized by the international community than by political entities in Montenegro.

– The Government has received unconditional support to continue its path – Krivokapić said at a press conference after a meeting with the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar.

He says that the results achieved by the Government show that Montenegro can be a place without corruption and reduce crime to a minimum.

– One of the questions was who is bothered by this Government – Krivokapić said.

He announced that Montenegro's debt will be reduced to below 80 percent, that there will be no new borrowing, but that if there is an opportunity to replace a loan with a more favorable one, it will be used.

Krivokapić stated that the Adriatic-Ionian road was agreed upon with American partners, and the Bar-Boljare highway with the EU.

– Key conclusions are that the Podgorica-Boljare highway, in agreement with Serbia, will likely be completed by December 2027. By the end of 2024, we will close all chapters, and in 2025, we can become the next member of the EU – said Krivokapić.

He stated that the biggest problem is the rule of law, and that the political crisis is created by political leaders, adding that citizens support the Government's programs.
