Increased Traffic Intensity Towards the South Continues

(Patria) - Due to the May Day holidays, traffic intensity has increased. The biggest traffic jams today are on the Sarajevo-Mostar main road, the Bradina-Konjic section, at the border crossings towards the south, as well as towards local picnic spots. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys and monitor the situation at border crossings via cameras available on the BIHAMK website.

A ban on the transport of explosives is in effect throughout the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina until tomorrow (02.05.) at 24:00.

Long queues of passenger vehicles are present at the entrances to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings: Izačić, Velika Kladuša, Hadžin Potok, Kostajnica, Brod, Vardište, and Karakaj, while traffic frequency is increased in both directions at the border crossings: Gradiška, Gradina, Svilaj, Kamensko, Bijača, Gorica, and Šepak. At the border crossings: Doljani, Prisika, Osoje, Zupci, Deleuša, and Kozarska Dubica, there are long queues of vehicles exiting our country. At other border crossings, passenger vehicles are currently not waiting longer than 30 minutes.

Based on previous experience, drivers planning to return from the south to the interior of the country on Sunday (03.05) are advised, if possible, to avoid the M-17 main road on the Mostar-Sarajevo section due to potential traffic jams and delays. As an alternative route, it is recommended to use the section: Kupres-Bugojno-Rostovo-Vitez-Sarajevo, which has proven to be less congested in practice on days with increased traffic.

Due to the registration of passengers under the new EU entry and exit system (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays at border crossings are possible.

Road surface repair works are underway on the A-1 highway section Kakanj-Lašva, due to which the left side of the highway is closed for 3 km, and vehicles are directed to use the opposite side of the highway in both directions.

On the A-1 highway sections Sarajevo sjever-Podlugovi and Sarajevo zapad-Lepenica, traffic is redirected to the overtaking lane due to ongoing works.

Movement of all vehicles across the bridge on the Dobro Polje-Miljevina main road is prohibited. Vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons can use the roads via Grepak or Kalinovik (there is 19 km of gravel road), while trucks must use the route via Rogatica and Ustiprača.

On the Tuzla-Bijeljina main road (Banj Brdo), vehicles up to 3.5 tons are using one lane, alternating, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

On the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

On the M-5 main road Izačić border crossing-Bihać, reconstruction works on the bridge over the Mrižnica stream are being carried out. Vehicles are being redirected to a temporary bypass near the works, with alternating traffic flow.

Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. Since 02.12.2025, Karakaj border crossing is open for all categories of vehicles. Traffic for all trucks is prohibited at the Šepak border crossing.
