Session of the Council of Ministers of BiH interrupted, Amidžić's proposal goes to the Fiscal Council

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina held an extraordinary session today.

One item on the agenda - but a difficult topic, as much as 110 million marks. It concerns the debt of Republika Srpska to the Slovenian company Viaduct, writes Federalna.ba.

The proposal for debt repayment was submitted by the Minister of Finance of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Srđan Amidžić.

However, the session was interrupted because the entire process was not followed. Namely, Amidžić's proposal did not pass the Fiscal Council, which is scheduled to meet at the beginning of next week.

Amidžić proposed that state institutions, specifically BHANSA, repay the debt of the Government of Republika Srpska amounting to 110 million KM to the Slovenian company.

Let us recall how this situation arose - in 2004, the Government of Republika Srpska signed a concession agreement for the construction of two hydroelectric power plants with a Slovenian company on the Vrbas River.

A few years later, the Government of Republika Srpska unilaterally decided to terminate that contract and awarded the concession to another company.

After that, Viaduct sued the Government of Republika Srpska and BiH. Then, in 2017, the Government of Republika Srpska and the Council of Ministers signed an agreement in which they committed to repay the debt to the Slovenian company.

However, this did not happen. Instead, state institutions are to repay the debt of the Government of Republika Srpska, despite the fact that the Government of Republika Srpska constantly boasts about having money and how the entity is economically flourishing.

The work of BHANSA is now endangered. Its funds and accounts are already blocked by Eurocontrol, which means that flights and the jobs of everyone working in the agency are also at risk.
