NSRS Session Interrupted, Resumes on Wednesday

The Parliamentary Collegium reached an agreement to adjourn the session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska for this evening, announcing that it will resume on Wednesday at noon. Before the continuation of the parliamentary session, the Collegium will meet again to determine whether and when a debate on audit reports will be held, BN television reported, cited by Patria.

The session was interrupted after opposition MPs threatened to physically prevent the parliament's work due to non-compliance with laws and the constitution, after which they "occupied" the space in the assembly hall where the leadership of the NSRS is seated.

"We will not allow the work of the Assembly to be conducted in this manner as long as laws are not respected and as long as the report of the General Service for Audit of the Public Sector of RS is not put on the agenda. You have prevented us in the most brutal way from discussing this, one of the key documents - the audit report," said NDP MP Dragan Čavić this evening.

After that, they occupied the space where the parliamentary leadership sits, intending to block the parliament's work.

However, after the collegium session, it was decided to adjourn the session for this evening.

SDS MP Vukota Govedarica said that this is a response "to the violence they are enduring in parliament, and that they demand respect for the constitution and laws" and until their demands are met, there will be no parliament.

"There can no longer be a normal course of events, because this parliamentary majority does not think with its own head, but with the head of one man," Govedarica stated in a statement to journalists, adding that the opposition will exhaust all constitutional possibilities to prevent violations of the law.

PDP MP Branislav Borenović also said that it is senseless to participate in the work of a parliament that passes decisions that are not published in the "Official Gazette".

"Either return to parliamentary democracy in accordance with the constitution and law, or there will be no parliamentary session," said Borenović, emphasizing that "in this way, they are protecting the citizens and RS.".

The reason for the opposition's dissatisfaction is the withdrawal from the agenda of the report of the General Service for Audit of the Public Sector on the consolidated report on the execution of the budget in 2016.
