OVERVIEW FOR FBiH Number of new infections decreases, but number of hospitalized and deaths increases

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data submitted to the FBiH Institute of Public Health in the Federation of BiH, as of 31.01.2022 at 12:00 PM, 227,544 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 disease and 8,066 deaths related to COVID-19 have been registered. There are currently 27,469 active cases of COVID-19.

At the Federation of BiH level, the 7-day incidence is 437.4 cases/100,000 inhabitants. In the last seven days, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Sarajevo Canton, West Herzegovina Canton, and Tuzla Canton have recorded a higher incidence than the average recorded in the Federation of BiH. The 7-day test positivity varies among cantons. High positivity indicates an inadequate number of PCR tests. Antigen test results are not included in the report.

In the Federation of BiH, 803 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 disease, of whom 48 (5.9%) are on invasive mechanical ventilation. According to the submitted data, out of 735 hospitalized persons with vaccination status information, 571 (77.7%) are unvaccinated and incompletely vaccinated, and 164 (22.3%) are fully vaccinated.

In the previous session, 194 deaths due to COVID-19 were recorded.

In the 4th week, an increase in the number of deaths due to COVID-19, the total number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients, and the number of COVID-19 patients on ventilators is recorded. The number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases and the 7-day incidence are decreasing.

The highest 7-day incidence values were recorded in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, West Herzegovina Canton, and Sarajevo Canton.
