House of Representatives of BiH Parliament to convene on Wednesday: Will a new member of the Central Election Commission be elected?

(Patria) - The session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament will be held on Wednesday, April 29, with forty items on the agenda.

Among them is the appointment of one member of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the 'others' category. The ranking list of successful candidates was submitted by the House of Representatives' Election and Appointment Committee.

On the ranking list are Nada Đekić with 38.57% of points, Jasmina Ramić-Odobašić has the same, followed by Uma Isić with 37.84% of points, and Mubera Vulović with 35.71 percent of points.

The mandate of Irena Hadžiabdić, a member of the Central Election Commission, expired back in 2023, but since no public call was announced, she continued to perform her duties as a member of the CEC. In November 2025, she requested to be relieved of her duties, and the procedure for electing a new member of the CEC from the 'others' category was initiated.

According to data from the Central Election Commission of BiH, the mandate of most current members lasts until March 2027.

In March 2020, most of the current members were appointed – Suad Arnautović, Ahmet Šantić, Vanja Bjelica-Prutina, Jovan Kalaba, and Željko Bakalar, whose mandates last until March 2027.

CEC member Vlado Rogić was appointed in May 2021, and his mandate lasts until May 2028.

The CEC has its hands full this year due to the introduction of new technologies in the election process and the conduct of the General Elections in October 2026.
