House of Representatives of BiH PS adopts amendments to the Election Law of BiH on the introduction of new technologies, it goes to the House of Peoples of BiH PS

(Patria) - The House of Representatives of BiH PS today adopted the Bill on Amendments to the Election Law of BiH, proposed by the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) representatives in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Mandra, Šemsudin Dedić, Safet Kešo, Šerif Špago, Amor Mašović, Midhat Čaušević, Denijal Tulumović and Edin Ramić.

A conclusion was also adopted for the House of Peoples of BiH PS to consider it under an urgent procedure.

The amendments to the Election Law of BiH enable the introduction of new electoral technologies into the electoral process in BiH, which will be applied in the next General Elections in 2026.

This includes biometric identification of voters, scanning of ballots, as well as electronic transmission of scanned ballot results, which will enable much faster and more efficient obtaining of results after election day.

Additionally, it prescribes, among other things, a new voting method, the appearance of the ballot, the counting method, procedures after the polling station is closed, cases when the Central Election Commission of BiH orders a recount of votes after the Central Election Commission of BiH determines and announces the election results, and other issues of importance for the application of electronic voting and the protection of the integrity of the electoral process.

Also, with these amendments, the Central Election Commission of BiH adopts the Rulebook on the internal organization of the Secretariat of the Central Election Commission of BiH at the proposal of the Secretary-General, with the prior consent of the Council of Ministers of BiH, while the adoption of the Rulebook on the internal organization of the CEC would not require the consent of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

The CEC sent an urgent request to all caucuses, warning that amendments to the Election Law are necessary, and in the context of introducing new electoral technologies, which the SDA Caucus decided to submit for procedure with these amendments.
