House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament considers appointment of Amidžić, objections also from ruling parties - conditions not met!

(Patria) - Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Krišto (Croatian Democratic Union - HDZ) has submitted to the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly a proposal for the appointment of a new Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH, Srđan Amidžić from the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), on which MPs will vote at today's session.

The appointment of Amidžić as minister is planned following the replacement of Zoran Tegeltija (SNSD) in that position, who has taken over as director of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA).

Thus, before the session, the Appointment Commission of the Council of Ministers of BiH will meet, where the proposed agenda item is the appointment of Amidžić.

According to legal provisions, the House of Representatives must confirm the appointment of the minister proposed by the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers, and if his appointment is not confirmed, the Chairwoman is obliged to propose another candidate within eight days.

Amidžić has previously passed all checks by the competent institutions, which determined that he meets the conditions to be a candidate for Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH.

Saša Magazinović, a representative of the SDP, reacted to these plans as early as yesterday, stating that the conditions for Amidžić's appointment have not been met.

"I have been informed that a session of the Commission for the Selection of the Council of Ministers is scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m., before the start of the session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, where the first step in appointing the new Minister of Finance should be taken. There would be nothing controversial about this if the agreement had not been that additional European laws, beyond those already in procedure, would also be considered at the same session of Parliament.

Unfortunately, the session of the Council of Ministers, instead of being before the Parliament session, is scheduled for the day after. The only additional material we received is the proposal for the appointment of the new minister.

This means that the agreement has not been respected and that there are no conditions for the new minister to be confirmed in Parliament tomorrow. If the Council of Ministers adopts the laws in the coming days in the manner required by the EU, we are ready to immediately schedule a new session of the House of Representatives where, in addition to the mentioned laws, other materials can also be included," said Magazinović.
