HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF FBiH Zildžić sought withdrawal of amendments to the Law on Allocation of Public Revenues

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the continuation of today's session, federal deputies are discussing the Proposal for amendments to the Law on Allocation of Public Revenues in FBiH, proposed by: Salko Zildžić and a group of deputies. 

Earlier, deputies took note of the Information on the state of the coronavirus epidemic in FBiH.

Instead of providing an explanation, Zildžić attempted to withdraw the Proposal from the agenda, but the presiding officer Mirsad Zaimović explained to him that the agenda had already been adopted, after which a 15-minute break was called.

It is evident that the ruling majority does not have enough votes today, which was also seen in the vote on the urgent procedure for the FBiH Budget Proposal, so Zildžić tried to buy time for the next session. 

After the break, Zaimović called on Zildžić to explain his proposal. 

Incidentally, this Proposal has caused great dissatisfaction in the Sarajevo Canton, as it proposes the abolition of weight 2 for this canton. 

On this occasion, this morning representatives of the Assembly and Government of the Sarajevo Canton, as well as trade unions, warned of the consequences. 

“Abolishing weight II means taking away about 90 million in the first year, and in the following two years 20 million KM each from the Sarajevo Canton. This political punishment by raising hands, without analysis, will affect the veteran population, employees in education, and the police. The real sector will consequently suffer as well,” said today Elvedin Okerić, presiding officer of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly.

Minister of Finance of the Sarajevo Canton Davor Čičić denies that weight 2 is a reward for the Sarajevo Canton, and that with this distribution of funds, a resident of the Sarajevo Canton is worth twice as much as a resident throughout FBiH.

“At this moment, as a citizen of Sarajevo, I cannot accept the fact that the Sarajevo Canton is taking anything from anyone. The Sarajevo Canton already gives between 80 and 90 million KM to other cantons, and participates in the attempt at balanced development of FBiH,” said Čičić, adding that the law should be changed, but based on economic parameters that can be calculated.
