House of Representatives of FBiH supported the Bill on Occupational Safety

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The House of Representatives of the Parliament of FBiH today supported the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Criminal Procedure of FBiH, by the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH. 

The proposal for this law to be processed under an urgent procedure was also accepted. 

60 representatives voted for this Bill, eight abstained, and five voted against. 

The amendments to the Criminal Law were drafted by an expert group, and one of the major innovations is the introduction of the institution of house arrest with electronic monitoring. 

The Bill on Protection and Treatment of Children and Minors in Criminal Proceedings was also supported. 

As stated during the debate, this law is good because it adapts to modern times and methods of dealing with juvenile delinquents. 

Representatives also supported the Bill on Occupational Safety. 

The Law on Occupational Safety, which is currently in effect, was passed in 1990 and, as part of the reform of labor legislation and an essential segment thereof, it was necessary to modernize and harmonize it with the changes that have occurred, and to ensure a system of rules whose application primarily achieves prevention in the occurrence of workplace injuries, occupational diseases, and other work-related illnesses, special protection for women in connection with maternity, youth, persons with disabilities, and persons with occupational diseases from further health damage and reduced work capacity, preservation of the work capacity of older workers within limits appropriate to their age, as well as the protection of the working environment, according to the explanation of the proposer, the Government of FBiH. 

In addition, during the drafting of this law, its provisions were harmonized with Convention No. 155 on Occupational Safety and Health and Recommendation No. 164 on Occupational Safety and Health of the International Labour Organization, as well as the provisions of the revised European Social Charter relating to the right of workers to safe and healthy working conditions, which Bosnia and Herzegovina has accepted and ratified. When drafting the text, the provisions of Council Directive 89/391/EEC of June 12, 1989, on the introduction of measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health of workers at work, which contains general principles concerning the prevention of occupational risks, safety and health at work, and the elimination of risks that can cause accidents, on which all modern European laws governing this area are based, were also used, and the aforementioned directive, in accordance with the Decree on the procedure for harmonizing the legislation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the acquis communautaire of the European Union ("Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH", No. 98/16), has been incorporated into the legislation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The House of Representatives also supported the Bill on Chemicals.
