EUFOR Representatives Visit Service for Foreigners' Affairs

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Director of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, Slobodan Ujić, received Major General Alexander Platzer, EUFOR Commander, for an introductory visit on 25.02.2021. The meeting was attended by Brigadier Herbert Haller, 1st Military Assistant to the EUFOR Commander, Mr. Aleš Perko, Liaison Officer with Law Enforcement Agencies, Deputy Director of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs Mirsad Buzar, and Head of Cabinet Branislav Mojević.

Director Ujić informed Major General Platzer and his associates about the responsibilities and activities of the Service, and the challenges it faces, particularly regarding the lack of staff and material-technical capacities of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs.

The meeting discussed the current situation regarding the increased influx of migrants into Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was emphasized that the most complex situation is in Sarajevo Canton and Una-Sana Canton, where temporary reception centers are located, currently housing around 6,000 migrants.

Major General Platzer stressed that migration is a global problem that Bosnia and Herzegovina also faces, and highlighted the role and significance of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs in combating illegal migration.

Director of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, Slobodan Ujić, thanked Major General Alexander Platzer and his closest associates for visiting the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, congratulated him on his election as Commander of the EUFOR mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed his belief that the good cooperation between the Service for Foreigners' Affairs and EUFOR will continue.
