The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina unanimously adopted a decision nominating US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026, writes Istraga.ba.
The decision was made after Trump engaged in establishing the ceasefire in Gaza, which was achieved between Palestinian Hamas and Israel.
“The Chairperson of the Presidency of BiH is tasked with sending a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee on behalf of the Presidency of BiH, informing them of the Presidency of BiH's decision to nominate the President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, for the Nobel Peace Prize,” the decision of the Presidency of BiH states.
Previously, member of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović proposed Trump's nomination, but the decision did not have the support of all members.
At the time, Cvijanović cited as reasons in the explanation that US President Trump, in his second term, achieved results through diplomatic engagement and personal authority that left a significant mark on international relations and significantly contributed to the stabilization of numerous global crises. However, there was no solution for peace in Gaza at that time.
The Chairperson of the Presidency of BiH, Željko Komšić, requested that Gaza be included in the explanation for the nomination.
