BiH Presidency supports organization of EYOF 2017 in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo

Representatives of Olympic committees from the region and BiH, as well as the host cities of the EYOF, informed the members of the BiH Presidency about the undertaken and planned activities in the upcoming period, which concern the organization of this very important sporting event, announced the BiH Presidency, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The festival would gather around 2,000 participants from about 45 countries and would be of great importance for the promotion of BiH, in the spirit of the tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, and the held XIV Winter Olympic Games. It was emphasized that the event is also of regional significance, as the candidacy of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo for organizing the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF 2017) was previously supported by the Olympic committees of the region's countries.

The members of the BiH Presidency exchanged opinions with their interlocutors on the importance, implementation, and successful organization of the event, and gave their preliminary support for holding the European Youth Olympic Festival.

The delegation included Zlatko Mateša, member of the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees and President of the Croatian Olympic Committee; Vlade Divac, member of the Executive Committee of the Association of National Olympic Committees of the World and President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia; Marijan Kvesić, President of the Olympic Committee of BiH; Izet Rađo, Vice President of the Olympic Committee of BiH; Siniša Kisić, Vice President of the Olympic Committee of BiH; then Ivo Komšić, Mayor of Sarajevo; Nenad Samardžija, Mayor of East Sarajevo; and Said Fazlagić, Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of BiH.
