Austrian President visited Butmir base and spoke with Commander Maurizio Fronda

(Patria) - EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda received the President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen at the Butmir base. This high-level meeting had the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina as its main topic.

The focus of the talks was the importance of EUFOR's continued support to the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the importance of lasting cooperation with domestic institutions in maintaining stability.

Particular emphasis was placed on EUFOR's close partnership with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including ongoing joint training activities designed to enhance interoperability and ensure operational readiness to respond to any potential security challenge.

General Fronda also highlighted the significance of the valuable contribution of EUFOR personnel from Austria, acknowledging their professionalism and dedication to this mission.

"Personnel from Austria continue to play an important role in EUFOR," said General Fronda, adding that "their dedication, professionalism, and expertise represent a significant contribution to our collective efforts to maintain a safe and stable environment."

During the meeting, a shared commitment to peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina was reaffirmed, a commitment based on strong international support and cooperation. EUFOR continues to operate in accordance with its mandate to support the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, maintaining a credible, visible, and impartial presence, while simultaneously working in partnership with domestic and international actors to provide a safe and stable environment for all citizens.
