36,193 voters have the right to vote in the referendum on the recall of Hadžibajrić

(Patria) - The Commission for conducting the recall procedure is carrying out final preparations ahead of the Referendum for the recall of Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, which will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

According to Mirza Imamović, President of the Commission, the printing and preparation of the final batch of ballot papers, through which citizens will decide whether they are FOR or AGAINST the recall of the municipal mayor, is underway. Although the referendum is conducted using the same procedure as elections, he highlighted as the biggest difference the procedure for printing ballot papers, which in the case of regular elections is ensured by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while in this case the entire procedure is managed by the Commission for conducting the recall. Nevertheless, according to the President of the Commission, Mirza Imamović, this part of the work is also proceeding according to the established schedule, and there are no difficulties in organizing and implementing the necessary activities required for holding the referendum.

Voters in Stari Grad will be able to vote on Sunday at 46 polling stations from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the first preliminary results of the referendum can be expected 7 hours after the polling stations close. For the final results, it will be necessary to wait for the counting of votes from abroad.

After the referendum is conducted, depending on the results, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina will verify the decision on the revocation or continuation of the mandate of the municipal mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić. 36,193 voters will have the right to vote on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

The Municipal Council of Stari Grad Sarajevo adopted at an extraordinary session held on June 12, 2023, the Decision to initiate the recall of the municipal mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić. At the same session, a decision was also made to form the Commission for conducting the recall procedure, and the Instructions for conducting the recall procedure of the municipal mayor were adopted. According to estimates, conducting the recall/referendum procedure will cost between 120,000 and 150,000 KM.
