EU Legal Expert Priebe to Meet Tegeltija Today

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A meeting between the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, Milan Tegeltija, and independent EU legal expert Reinhard Priebe will be held at the Council's premises today. Priebe's visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina was announced by the European Commissioner for Enlargement during his visit to Sarajevo and meeting with the parents of the murdered young men David Dragičević and Dženan Memić.

Priebe is an experienced retired judge and legal expert who was instrumental in the judicial reform in North Macedonia. Priebe and his team will also meet with the legal representative of the Memić and Dragičević families, lawyer Ifet Feraget, which could be a completely new and unexpected source of strength for these families. Suzana Radanović and Muriz Memić asked for the EU's help in resolving the murders of their children during their meeting with Hahn. They pointed out all the irregularities that accompanied these two murder cases. Hahn openly stated that he was aware of both cases and that Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot take a single step forward towards the EU without a fundamental reform of the judiciary.

The President of the HJPC, Tegeltija, stated last week that he does not fear Priebe's visit and that reform processes are underway in the BiH judiciary, which are being carried out in cooperation with the European Commission.

Priebe is also expected to monitor legal proceedings in the Memić and Dragičević cases.
