Call to Respect Measures, Three Deaths in Sarajevo Canton

(Patria) - After analyzing 1,119 samples collected from February 23 to 25 this year, 346 new coronavirus infections have been confirmed in Sarajevo Canton.

162 infected individuals, or 46.8 percent, belong to family clusters or contacts of previously ill individuals and have been in self-isolation since before.

At the same time, 213 people have recovered from the infectious disease Covid-19.

A total of 271 people are hospitalized in the isolation wards of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo at Podhrastovi (144) and the General Hospital (127), of whom nine are on mechanical ventilator support for breathing, 7 are on non-invasive ventilation (NIV), and 12 are on high-flow oxygen therapy (HF oxygenation).

14 patients have been discharged from hospital treatment. Unfortunately, three people have died.

Currently, there are 1,827 active COVID-19 cases in Sarajevo Canton, and 1,976 people are in self-isolation. Of the 29,963 citizens of Sarajevo Canton who have recovered from COVID so far, unfortunately, 502 have died.

The Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton emphasizes that, given the increase in the number of infections, they are calling on the population to maximally respect the measures in force.

They particularly highlight the importance of hand hygiene, oral hygiene with mandatory covering of the mouth when coughing and sneezing, staying home if you do not feel well, and physical distancing while avoiding enclosed spaces and close contact.
