Incitement to violence and hatred: Criminal complaint filed against Nenad Stevandić

(Patria) - Dario Sandić, the leader of the SDP BiH list, today filed a criminal complaint with the Banja Luka Prosecutor's Office against Nenad Stevandić due to an election campaign spot.

The complaint states that "on his Twitter profile, he posted a video spot depicting a tavern where 3 individuals are seated, presented in the spot as members of the Albanian, Croatian, and Bosniak nations. The individual representing the Albanian nation states that they (meaning Albanians) have driven all Serbs from Kosovo, and the individual representing the Croatian nation states that they (meaning Croats) 'cleaned' Serbs from the territory of Croatia during the Storm (referring to the military operation), while the third individual states that they (meaning Bosniaks) have now divided the Serbs and will destroy them."

"A 4th individual appears, intended to represent a Serb, whose appearance is reminiscent of someone from the criminal milieu, and not at all a representative of the Serbian people. After stating that 'Republika Srpska is united,' he threateningly slams his fist on the table, thereby frightening and endangering the individuals depicted as members of the Albanian, Croatian, and Bosniak nations. Following this, these individuals flee the tavern, while an unknown person simulates shooting at them with a pistol. Subsequently, individuals wearing the insignia of the political party United Srpska appear, and the accused himself appears, repeating the words spoken by the individual representing the Serb nation in the spot. This undeniably and clearly alludes to hatred and incitement to violence and hatred between Albanians and Serbs, between Croats and Serbs, and between Bosniaks and Serbs. Serbs are portrayed as thugs, uncivilized people, and members of the criminal milieu, and the accused alludes to a change in the constitutional order of Republika Srpska."

Considering that the spot depicts Serbs as being endangered in Kosovo, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and publicly emphasizes the unification of Serbs into one state, thereby leading to the disappearance of Republika Srpska, the accused has committed the criminal offense of public incitement and provocation of violence and hatred under Article 359 of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska, as well as the criminal offense of Attack on the Constitutional Order under Article 278 of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska, the criminal offense of Endangering Territorial Integrity under Article 279 of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska, and the criminal offense of Placing Republika Srpska in a Subordinate or Dependent Position under Article 280 of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska," the complaint states.
