Call to Inzko to enact the Law on Prohibition of Genocide Denial

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Associations of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Movement "Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa" issued a press release today, calling on the High Representative in BiH, Valentin Inzko, to impose the Law on the Prohibition of Genocide Denial.

"Following the work of the High Representative in BiH, from his arrival to the present day, his persistence and continuity in calling out all those who have destroyed the constitutional order of BiH must be highlighted. All reports of the High Representative to the UN Security Council have caused real panic among genocide deniers. They did not hesitate to call Valentin Inzko derogatory names, to call him a criminal.

Unfortunately, the support of the international community was lacking in the previous period, and therefore Valentin Inzko did not have support for making stronger decisions. Recently, there has been significant support from the international community. It is evident that the numerous reports to the Security Council have reached those who make decisions.

The removal of the plaque from the student dormitory in Pale, the request to the RS Assembly to revoke recognitions from convicted war criminals, and finally the support of the UN Secretary-General are sufficient signs that the time has finally come for Mr. Inzko to enact the Law on the Prohibition of Genocide Denial as soon as possible. This would undoubtedly be the greatest achievement of the High Representative's work in BiH. We give our full support to the High Representative for what has been done so far, and we call on him to enact the Law on the Prohibition of Genocide Denial," the joint statement of the associations reads.
