Fire in Kalesija, several people ended up at UKC Tuzla

(Patria) - Several people sought medical assistance after a fire broke out in a building in Vukovije, in the municipality of Kalesija, today.

As confirmed by the Kalesija Professional Fire Brigade, the report of the fire was received at 1:30 PM. A fire crew of seven firefighters with three vehicles was dispatched to the scene.

- Thanks to a swift intervention, the fire was localized at 2:20 PM and its further spread was prevented. Several people sought medical attention due to smoke inhalation, including one firefighter. All were treated by the Emergency Medical Service - stated the Kalesija firefighters.

It was stated from the University Clinical Center Tuzla that six patients were sent to the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases of UKC Tuzla from the Kalesija Health Center due to injuries sustained from smoke inhalation.

- Two patients were hospitalized at the aforementioned clinic, one was sent to the Clinic for Orthopedics due to a leg injury, and three patients were returned to home treatment after observation - stated the spokesperson for UKC, Ersija Aščerić Mujedinović.

She added that the patients are clinically stable.

Kalesija firefighters expressed their gratitude to the residents of Vukovije for their support during the intervention, as well as to their colleagues from the Tuzla Airport Fire Department for their assistance in extinguishing the fire.

The cause of the fire will be determined later.
