Power to citizens of BiH: It is a difficult time for the people, but I am here to convey words of support from the USA

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - USAID Administrator and former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power posted a video message on Twitter addressed to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"For me, it is very moving to be here again, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country where I lived and worked as a war correspondent in the 1990s," she said.

She pointed out that today she is in BiH as the USAID Administrator and that she is very proud of the programs they have supported over the 26 years since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

"I am proud of the investments in economic opportunities, in young people, in independent media, as well as in anti-corruption work. Over the next few days, I will have the opportunity to meet with true leaders in this country, people who refuse to give up on freedom, unity, and prosperity. I am truly excited to sit down with them and hear their views on what more we can do to support the creation of democratic accountability in Bosnia. This is a difficult time for the people of this country, a very challenging development of political events, but also an excellent opportunity for me to convey the enduring support of the USA and the American people for this incredibly important partnership between our two countries," Power concluded.
