Returning families move into new apartments built in the Ilidža area

Eighteen families of refugees and displaced persons received apartment keys in a newly constructed building in the Ilidža Municipality, as part of the Regional Housing Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the key handover and a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, 18 beneficiary families officially moved into the newly built residential building at Suvad Đulimana Street numbers 40 and 42. 

The opening was attended by the Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Semiha Borovac, the Federal Minister for Refugees and Displaced Persons, Edin Ramić, and the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Prof. Dr. Senaid Memić. In selecting beneficiaries, the Ilidža Municipality acted in accordance with the Rulebook on criteria and procedures for selecting beneficiaries, allocation, method and use of housing units in multi-apartment buildings within the Regional Housing Programme for the allocation of apartments to socially displaced persons.

The apartments were awarded to: Golo Sabiha, Lekić Ramajana, Čavrk Hava, Hukara Mirveta, Halilović Munevera, Žiga Dževad, Salčin Elvira, Polimac Hatidža, Stupar Mirsada, Lošić Adnan, Bičo Dženita, Mehmedika Sead, Ališehović Ševala, Hadžiahmetović Anes, Čubro Sinan, Karamujić Kenajid, Šabanović Hatidža and Mehić Alema.

The sub-project BiH3, valued at around 34 million BAM, plans the construction of 24 buildings with 512 apartments intended for housing internally displaced families and families of refugees from Croatia in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to the Ilidža Municipality, buildings have already been constructed in Bosanski Petrovac (20 apartments), Pale-Prača (6 apartments), Foča FBiH (9 apartments) and Tuzla (34 apartments), while construction is underway in Goražde (20 apartments), Jajce (7 apartments), Olovo (16 apartments), Zenica (62 apartments), Prijedor (82 apartments), Banja Luka (48 apartments), Bijeljina and Derventa (30 apartments each), Gradiška (32 apartments), Bileća and Brod (15 apartments each), Vlasenica (20 apartments), Foča (12 apartments) and in the Brčko District of BiH, 2 buildings with 16 apartments.

The value of the Regional Housing Programme is around 1.2 billion BAM, of which more than 200 million relates to projects in BiH. All of this would be unfeasible without the support of the international community, foremost the European Union, as the largest donor with a contribution of around 450 million BAM, as well as the United States of America, Italy, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey and other donor countries and the support of UNHCR, OSCE and the Council of Europe Development Bank. Bosnia and Herzegovina has appointed the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH as the Lead Institution for the State Project of Housing Care, and entrusted the implementation of sub-projects to the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees, the Ministry for Refugees and Displaced Persons of Republika Srpska, and the Department for Refugees, Displaced Persons and Housing Issues of the Government of Brčko District of BiH.
