Japanese jelly candies recalled due to high risk for children

(Patria) - The Food Safety Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been informed, through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (EU RASFF), that Bosnia and Herzegovina is on the list of countries to which jelly candies originating from Japan have been delivered.

As announced by the Agency, the candies pose a choking risk, especially for young children, as their motor skills are limited, thus the risk of swallowing is particularly high.

The product in question is named Hello Kitty Apfel Koniac Gelee and comes from Japan. It is a candy in a 150-gram package, with an expiration date of June 11, 2026. The exporter from Japan is Tencho foods CO L.T.D. from Inazawa Shi in Aichi Prefecture, while the distributor in the Netherlands, FBO LTP Import Export B.V., further forwards the product to European markets. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the product is imported by companies LSM Global D.O.O. and Disti D.O.O., both based in Sarajevo.

They added that this is a serious risk, and the measures include withdrawal, recall, notification of goods recipients, and consumer notification.

"The Food Safety Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has provided all available information for further action to the competent inspection authorities," the statement added.
