EU Support for the Western Balkans Region Confirmed

BRUSSELS, (Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić, at the invitation of the President of the European Council Charles Michel, attended an informal meeting and dinner of EU leaders and Western Balkans leaders in Brussels today.

Unambiguous support and commitment of the European Union leadership to the Western Balkans region was confirmed, and it was announced that the European Union is determined to strengthen support for political, economic, and social changes in the region. It was reiterated that the goal is a strong, stable, and united Europe.

The new accession methodology for the Western Balkan countries and the commencement of negotiations with the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania were discussed.

The dinner was also attended by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell. From the region's leaders, the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, the Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia Nikola Dimitrov, the President of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi, and the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama attended.
