Indictment for Crimes in Višegrad Confirmed

The State Court has confirmed the indictment against Momir, Petar and Mirko Tasić for crimes against humanity committed in the Višegrad area.

As previously announced by the Prosecutor's Office, the indictment charges the Tasićs with participating on 16 June 1992 in the enforced disappearance of six persons of Bosniak ethnicity, who were previously arrested, tortured and abused, and then taken away in an unknown direction. These six men are still listed as missing to this day.

The accused are also charged with the rape of two persons. According to the indictment, Momir and Petar Tasić were members of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), while Mirko Tasić was a member of the Public Security Station (SJB) in Višegrad.

The Tasićs committed the crimes as part of a widespread and systematic attack directed against the Bosniak civilian population in the Višegrad municipality, BIRN reported, as carried by NAP.
