Indictment for genocide against Milomir Savčić confirmed

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed, on January 13, 2020, the indictment in the Milomir Savčić case, in which the accused Milomir Savčić is charged with committing the criminal offense of genocide under Article 171, points a) and b) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH), in conjunction with Article 180, paragraph 1, and Article 31 of the CC BiH.

The indictment, among other things, states that Milomir Savčić, in his capacity as commander of the 65th Motorized Guard Regiment of the Main Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska, knowing the intention of the main perpetrators to partially exterminate the national, ethnic, and religious group of Bosniaks, aided and abetted the killing of male members of the Bosniak group and the infliction of serious bodily injuries and mental suffering on the Bosniak group, who, as Bosniaks of Eastern Bosnia, constituted a significant part of the ethnic group of Bosniaks.

Savčić is the president of the Veterans Organization of Republika Srpska (BORS), and the indictment against him was filed at the end of December 2019.
