Indictment Confirmed Against Two Tuzla Police Officers: They Took Bribes for Lighter Penalties

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Municipal Court in Tuzla has confirmed the indictment of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton against two officers from the Tuzla Center Police Station, Enis Tučić (49) and Slađan Iličić (47), due to reasonable suspicion that they, as accomplices, committed the extended criminal offenses of abuse of position and authority, accepting gifts or other forms of benefit, and forgery of official documents, the TK Prosecutor's Office announced.

The indictment explains that these two police officers, in the period from November 2018 to early January 2019, abused their position and authority and acted contrary to the Instructions on the conduct of police officers in the field of traffic safety of the MUP TK, and carried out checks on several drivers who had committed violations, providing those drivers with benefits by not issuing them misdemeanor tickets.

Furthermore, while performing their official duties of traffic control, they demanded and took smaller amounts of money from a number of drivers who had committed violations so that they would not issue them misdemeanor tickets, and entered false information in traffic control forms stating that the condition of those drivers was in order.

In this way, they acted contrary to the provisions of the Law on the Basics of Traffic Safety on Roads in BiH and the Law on Misdemeanors of the FBiH.

In the indictment, the competent court was proposed to impose on the aforementioned persons a security measure prohibiting them from performing their calling and duties in the MUP TK and other police agencies in BiH for a period of five (5) years. Also, it was proposed that the property gain obtained through criminal offenses be confiscated from the accused.
