Another Indictment for Genocide in Srebrenica Confirmed

(Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed an indictment in the case of Zoran Malinić, charging the accused with the criminal act of genocide.

The indictment states that during a widespread and systematic attack, undertaken in the period from 6 July 1995 to 1 November 1995 by members of the VRS and the MUP RS, directed against the Bosniak population of the UN Safe Area of Srebrenica, an operation was carried out for the permanent and forcible transfer of the entire Bosniak civilian population, an operation of capturing, detaining and executing military-aged Bosniak men and boys from the Srebrenica enclave, and an operation of their burial, exhumation and reburial at other locations with the aim of concealing evidence.

In this way, a group of the Bosniak people was partially exterminated, whereby the entire Bosniak population, up to 40,000 Bosniak civilians, was removed from the Srebrenica enclave, and more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were killed, the indictment states.

The accused Zoran Malinić, in his capacity as commander of the Military Police Battalion of the 65th Protective Motorised Regiment of the Main Staff of the VRS, acting on orders from Ratko Mladić and his subordinate superiors of the Main Staff of the VRS and Milomir Savčić, commander of the 65th Protective Regiment, in the period from 11 July 1995 to 15 July 1995 in the area of Nova Kasaba (formerly Dušanovo), including the elementary school and stadium, knowing of their intent, knowingly provided assistance to members of a joint criminal enterprise whose plan was to previously capture, then detain and summarily execute and bury military-aged Bosniak men from the Srebrenica enclave and thus remove them as a group, the indictment of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina states.
