Funds needed to save the life of Amir Hebibović from Konjic

(Patria) - Amir Hebibović (47) from Konjic urgently needs help to get a chance at life after being diagnosed with a severe infection of a vascular graft, a condition that cannot be treated with antibiotics and threatens his life.

Hebibović has been suffering for years from antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), a rare autoimmune disorder that causes blood clots and leads to repeated thromboses. Due to the consequences of the disease, he has undergone a series of complex vascular surgeries, including the placement of stents in both iliac arteries, an aortobifemoral bypass, and several emergency interventions due to new clots. In July 2025, he also underwent amputation of his right thigh.

Despite years of struggle, Amir did not give up. However, he is now facing a complication that requires the urgent implantation of a cryopreserved homograft from Spain. The surgery will be performed at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb, and the total costs amount to 46,850 euros, an amount his family cannot secure on their own.

The humanitarian organization Pomozi Drugima – Help Others has launched an appeal to raise funds.
