Search for Serbs kidnapped in Libya, kidnappers located

Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs State Secretary Veljko Odalović stated today that assurances have been received from Libyan officials that the kidnapped employees will be returned within the next 48 hours, which, as he added, means the kidnappers have been located, reports the Patria News Agency.

- We have assurances from them, and it is obvious that the kidnappers have been located and have not passed checkpoints outside the city. They are obviously in the city, so we hope that what the Libyan officials are doing will yield results, Odalović said.

Odalović told RTS that security measures in Libya have been raised to the highest level and that efforts are being made to resolve the kidnapping of two Serbian Embassy employees in Libya as soon as possible.

- Huge efforts are being made by local security forces to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Security measures have been raised to the highest level, so it is obvious that the Libyan authorities are willing to resolve the situation, Odalović said.

He said that he is in daily contact with the Serbian Ambassador to Libya, Oliver Potežica, who was also in the convoy of vehicles from which the two embassy employees were kidnapped, and that it is obvious that the kidnapping was planned.

Two employees of the Embassy in Libya, attaché Slađana Stanković and driver Jovica Stepić, were kidnapped yesterday in the city of Sabratha in Libya.
