Brdo-Brioni Process Leaders' Declaration Signed: Global Cooperation Against Extremism

To achieve common goals in Southeast Europe, including strengthening stability and security, we must continue to strengthen the transatlantic partnership between the US and the EU and inject new energy into the EU enlargement process for candidate countries and those wishing to join NATO, is one of the conclusions of the extraordinary meeting of the Brdo-Brijuni process, attended by US Vice President Joe Biden as the main guest, HRT reports, as stated by the BH News Agency Patria.

Leaders of six Southeast European countries, as well as Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria, agreed that open bilateral and regional issues should be addressed constructively, in accordance with international law and its principles. They committed to improving economic cooperation and connectivity through regional infrastructure projects, with special attention paid to energy security.

It was agreed that regular dialogue at the operational level between the US, the EU, and Southeast European countries is necessary in the fight against global security threats.

The current dramatic migration crisis presents an unprecedented challenge from both a humanitarian and security perspective and requires dialogue and agreement to better protect the EU's external borders and significantly alleviate the migration pressure on affected countries – it was concluded at the meeting, from which a call was also made for more effective solutions aimed at addressing the causes of radicalism, violent extremism, and terrorism that affect all countries.

Biden said it was a productive day and that he was privileged to be there.

Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as European officials and presidents of the region's countries, also attended the meeting.
