Contract signed: New residential building for young people to be built in Ilidža

(Patria) - A residential building for young people is soon to be built in the settlement of Sokolović Kolonija, Ilidža, near the future tram line Ilidža - Hrasnica, and today a contract was signed for the sale of land owned by the Municipality for the construction of a residential building.

The contract was signed by the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, and Elvedin Lagarija, Director of the Sarajevo Canton Fund for Housing Construction, as the public investor. The signing was also attended by the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk.

The location where the building is to be constructed was a construction plot owned by the Municipality of Ilidža, and after discussions between the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, Prime Minister Nihad Uk, and representatives of the Housing Construction Fund, the idea for the realization of this extremely important project emerged.

- This is very important for us because this is the first time our local community is realizing such a project or a similar one. It is important for us that it proves to be a good practice, and the benefits are certainly multifaceted as we are embarking on a project that will primarily concern young people. On the other hand, it is very important that the prices will be more affordable than those currently on the market, which will certainly help our young people. In the coming period, the focus will be on projects for better conditions and a better life for young people - said Mayor Muzur.

The apartments will be intended for young people, as well as other specific categories that fall under special categories when it comes to housing construction and the fund, and the construction aims to show that housing issues can be resolved in a more affordable way.

- The KS Fund for Housing Construction signed a land purchase agreement with the municipal mayor today. This is important for us because after a long time we are starting to build in the Ilidža locality. It is a building that will have about 50 apartments, and this is the first project in the Ilidža municipality to provide more affordable conditions for young people. Our expectations are that the prices of these apartments, of course we cannot state exact indicators, will be about 30% lower than the current market price. In this way, we want to contribute so that young married couples can start a family and exercise their right to housing - said the Director of the Fund, Elvedin Lagarija, and emphasized that he hopes the project will start in 2025.

The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, emphasized that the KS Government has the ambition not only to build the tram line to Hrasnica but also to conceptually approach the entire area and make it attractive for living.

- One of the most important meetings for me is the ceremonial signing of the contract, which relates to the construction of the building in the municipality of Ilidža, through our Fund, and to connect the story of the tram line, which goes towards Hrasnica, with a beautiful story, so that young married couples, people who are not housed, can buy property and be a few hundred meters from the tram line, which will be completed by the end of next year. Not so long ago, we discussed this topic at the Municipality of Ilidža, and the realization from their side is completed today, from our side, the project documentation and obtaining permits are now underway, and at some point, we will start the construction of that building. This is just one of the ways we want to influence housing construction and the development of the housing fund of Sarajevo Canton - said Prime Minister Uk.

He emphasized that it is now up to the current director of the Housing Construction Fund, Elvedin Lagarija, to carry out the preparatory activities for the start of construction, and the final number of housing units will depend on the project itself.
