Agreement signed on rehabilitation works for the railway crossing in Blažuj

(Patria) - An Agreement on the execution of rehabilitation works for the railway crossing on the M-17 main road in Blažuj was signed today in Sarajevo between Operator-Terminali Federacije d.o.o. Sarajevo, the Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton and the Public Company Roads of the Federation.

During the signing, it was stated that this crossing, due to its poor condition which has persisted for years, has been obstructing traffic on the M-17 road, and that it is necessary to put it into operation because the terminals must be connected by rail, Fena reports.

The Minister of Transport of the Sarajevo Canton, Adnan Šteta, stated that this is one of many infrastructure problems in the Sarajevo Canton that have been awaiting rehabilitation for decades.

Šteta emphasised that thanks to joint efforts, they are finally starting to solve this problem in order to improve the safety of all traffic participants and create quality conditions for the functioning of the terminals.

The director of the Operator-Terminali Federacije corporation, Hermedin Zornić, stated that the Agreement will enable them to bring the railway crossing into a functional state for passenger vehicles and the delivery of petroleum derivatives by rail to the terminals within the next 60 days.

He added that unresolved property-legal relations posed a problem during the preparation of the Agreement, but that they managed to finalise the process with the help of the Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton and the Public Company Roads of the Federation.

It was announced that soon after the signing of the agreement, a public call for the selection of a contractor will be published.
