Agreement Signed: 24 Million KM for New 'Pofalići' Elementary School Building

(Patria) - The signing of the Business Cooperation Agreement has created conditions for the realization of the project to build a new building for "Pofalići" Elementary School, one of the most significant infrastructural projects in the field of education in Sarajevo Canton.

The need for building a new school in this settlement has existed for many years, considering that classes are held in a facility built in the sixties of the last century, which was constructed as a temporary solution.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Education and Upbringing of Sarajevo Canton Naida Hota-Muminović, the Mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality Benjamina Karić, and the Director of the Institute for Construction of Sarajevo Canton Belma Barlov.

The agreement was symbolically signed at "Pofalići" Elementary School, and the new school construction project, worth 24 million KM, envisages the allocation of approximately 14 million KM from the relevant Ministry, and about 10 million KM from the budget of the Novo Sarajevo Municipality.

Minister Hota-Muminović emphasized that this project resolves a long-standing issue of school infrastructure in this part of Sarajevo, highlighting that it is a modern facility that meets the needs of today's education.

- This will be a school of the 21st century, oriented towards the future. Children do not have time to wait; every generation deserves safe and quality learning conditions. After a series of challenges and delays in the past, through joint work, we have reached the stage where we are talking about announcing a public call and starting the realization - stated Hota-Muminović.



She added that the Ministry, within its three-year investment cycle, has invested around 90 million KM in school infrastructure in Sarajevo Canton, and that approximately 500,000 KM was invested in the existing "Pofalići" Elementary School building in the previous period, to provide students with the best possible conditions for work and stay until the construction of the new school building.

Mayor Karić assessed that this is a generational project that represents the fulfillment of decades-long expectations of parents, students, and teachers.

Director Barlov stated that after numerous administrative and technical challenges, a clear and sustainable framework for the project's realization has been created, and that the Institute provides full professional support to ensure the construction of the new school proceeds according to the planned dynamics.

The Director of "Pofalići" Elementary School, Daut Šaljić, thanked the signatories of the Agreement, emphasizing that this is a project that will provide future generations of students with significantly better conditions for work, learning, and achieving even better educational results.

The construction of the new school is planned in accordance with the Regulatory Plan "Pofalići", given that the existing school building is located on the route of the planned city express road Butile-Dariva.

The realization of the project will improve the overall educational infrastructure of this part of Sarajevo and ensure long-term quality conditions for students and teachers.
