Is there a scenario and direction of conflict within Bosniak unity

The statement by Bakir Izetbegović about the writings of Dnevni Avaz and its negative impact on the SDA and SBB coalition has shocked many. An ordinary person might wonder what kind of public opinion is being created by the current ruling Bosniak coalition's politics? If there is unity in strength, must there be media unity? What can regulate policies in power if not the media? Until yesterday, Izetbegović had a parallel media engine in the form of one daily newspaper and one weekly. Ahead of the sudden SDA and SBB coalition, media conflicts were evident, writes Patria.

The pre-election campaigns of all parties are mostly based on conflicts, threatening messages, and traditional embarrassments of opponents, in which the masses make their choices on election day. Who remembers what the current partners said about each other, how much media brutality was exchanged. This still confuses even the best interpreters of Bosniak unity.

Then came a peaceful period in which the coalition was successfully lubricated by the media, and the entire project of Bosniak unity was pushed forward hastily to succeed. It is indicative that Izetbegović was not heard during those fierce pre-election criticisms. Why did he remain cold then, and why does he react fiercely and ultimatumly today to the most ordinary criticisms from Avaz? It is difficult to explain this reasonably without free constructions and mental acrobatics.

Avaz's response appeared on the front page this morning, equally calm and adorned with the headline of the most circulated newspaper in BiH: "Avaz rejects Bakir's pressure". Izetbegović was treated intimately, just as Bakir. One could conclude: The conflict has neither depth nor serious substance. Why is it needed then? It could be said that Bosniak politics has reached a dead end, facing incredible processes in which tectonic shifts are visible in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Milorad Dodik lost his US visa even with a diplomatic passport. Dragan Čović overnight lost his key interlocutor for his acrobatic politics. What kind of power do we possess as a state and what power do our political leaders, our undisputed leaders, have, when all decades-long political ties, firmly built, have crumbled in one visa rejection. One can wonder: Are these conflicts within Bosniak unity actually a staged action? Burying heads in the Bosniak national sand? If this is a variant of the Bosniak political response, then we could expect Čović in a new federal role as a peacemaker between SDA and SBB. Namely, the engineer has suddenly lost Dodik, and the spiritual authorities of the Catholic Church have distanced themselves from him. If there is direction, it will be with such a plot. We are, after all, a nation with the most film awards per capita.
