Agreement reached in FBiH Government, military pensioners disperse

The protest of military pensioners in front of the Government building of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has ended. They demanded that the Proposal for amendments to the Law on Early Preferential Pensioning of Defenders of the Defense-Liberation War be sent to the parliamentary procedure. After negotiations in the FBiH Government, the President of the Coordination of Veterans' Associations and Alliances of FBiH Šaban Habibović stated that an agreement was reached with the FBiH Government that the payment coefficient for military pensioners would be 1.48 and that it would be applied from January 1 or at the latest within two months. Currently, the payment coefficient is 1.0. Within ten days, this proposal should be on the agenda of the FBiH Parliament under urgent procedure. At that time, the veterans will appear in front of the FBiH Parliament building.

Several hundred military pensioners gathered in front of the FBiH Government building, demanding that the Proposal for amendments to the Law on Early Preferential Pensioning of Defenders of the Defense-Liberation War be sent to the parliamentary procedure.

General Vahid Karavelić addressed the gathered former fighters and military pensioners, stating that they would not allow
excesses and violence. The veterans are demanding the return of the previous coefficient because their pensions have been drastically reduced.

- I promise that we will fight for this. They must return our taken rights. We endured Treskavica, Majevica, and Grmeč when it was worst. We will remain persistent - he said.

Veterans from Goražde, Tuzla, Bihać, Mostar, Široki Brijeg, Zenica, and other cities of FBiH came to the protests.

If no agreement is reached, the veterans demand the resignation of Prime Minister Fadil Novalić.
