Listen to how a tender is rigged at the Sarajevo Health Center: 'God can't help you, only Abel can'

(Patria) - "No one can give you a job except Abel. God, Allah, can't help you except Abel," Aldin Mehić told Adnan Kalkan in a meeting in mid-last year, writes Istraga.ba.

Mehić is the driver of Abel Baltić, the director of the Public Health Institution (JZU) Sarajevo Health Center. Adnan Kalkan was one of the candidates who applied for the driver position at the JZU Sarajevo Health Center.

After this conversation, Adnan Kalkan's name appeared as the number one ranked candidate for the job at the Health Center. Kalkan got the job. Here are parts of the recording of the conversation between candidate Kalkan and the director's driver, Aldin Mehić.

This all happened in the summer of last year. The director of JZU Sarajevo Health Center, Abel Baltić, appointed his driver Aldin Mehić to the Commission for hiring drivers at this healthcare institution. Adnan Kalkan applied, but he apparently inquired too much about the tender procedure. Furthermore, Kalkan was on good terms with the former Minister of Health in the Sarajevo Canton Government, Haris Vranić.

"Stay away from them. Don't comment on anything. You'll get what they ask you. Gather everything else and don't fall for stupidities," Mehić warned candidate Kalkan.

The recording further states that he wouldn't even be talking to Kalkan "if he hadn't gotten the green light."

"You've received a good warning from me. Back off. You'll get the job, and all this is hanging... The minister can blow it if Abel doesn't give it. They all like you. Abel will help you. Don't ask anything. You'll be informed about everything," said the director's driver Mehić.

The public call for hiring employees was published at the end of March 2022. Mehić promised candidate Kalkan that he would receive the questions and be hired. In June 2022, the results were published. Adnan Kalkan was the top-ranked candidate.



Istraga.ba first contacted driver Aldin Mehić.

"I never spoke with Kalkan. But I heard there's some recording. When I heard there was a recording, I immediately left the Commission," Mehić told Istraga.ba.

After that, we called director Baltić. He claims he did not send Mehić to talk to Kalkan.

"I know both Mehić and Kalkan. When I heard about the irregularities, I dismissed the Commission and reported it to the police. I don't know the stage of the investigation," director Baltić told us.

However, even though the Commission was dismissed, candidate Kalkan was the "best" and got a job at the Health Center. We tried to talk to him as well, but Kalkan did not answer our calls.
