Employers warn political parties: Workers are leaving us, urgently form the government

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Management Board of the Association of Employers of Sarajevo Canton, at today's session, concluded that political instability is the biggest cause of the mass exodus of the working-age population from BiH.

The Management Board of the Association of Employers of Sarajevo Canton calls on those responsible from political parties, who participate or should participate in the work of executive and legislative authorities at all levels, to urgently complete the process
of forming governments at all levels and jointly begin working on creating a better political and economic environment, thereby creating conditions for retaining the working-age population throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. This conclusion was reached based on information from the thematic session of the Economic and Social Council of Sarajevo Canton „Outflow of the working-age population - causes and
consequences“.

It was emphasized that employers, within their capabilities, strive to increase employee salaries and ensure more favorable working conditions in order to retain capable and qualified staff. However, qualified and professional staff are leaving, often with their entire families, regardless of salary and working conditions. As the most common reason, they state that they no longer want to live and work in conditions of political instability and legal uncertainty, and that they do not want to raise their children in such conditions.

„For political and social stability, intervention by the executive and legislative authorities at all levels is necessary in terms of agreement, strategy development, and strengthening the rule of law. As employers, we demand that
the laws formulated by the Association of Employers of the Federation of BiH through the ‘Initiative 20+5+6’ be submitted to the parliamentary procedure. The majority of legislative proposals define issues of relieving the economy and improving the business environment. This particularly refers to reducing taxes and contributions, and as responsible employers, we are ready to continue increasing salaries, including the funds that would be
freed up through the reduction of contributions, as well as all other tax reductions aimed at increasing salaries and improving the position of our employees“, is the conclusion of the Management Board of the Association of Employers of Sarajevo Canton.
