Last Farewell to Balašević in Sarajevo: Citizens Gather in Front of Skenderija

(Patria) - Citizens of Sarajevo are gathering tonight at Skenderija where a mini-concert will be held in honor of the late artist Đorđe Balašević. If they are unable to come to the Skenderija plateau itself, citizens are invited to balconies, windows. It is planned to light candles for the late Đorđe Balašević and pay tribute to this great artist.

The gathering of citizens is planned for 8 PM, but citizens are already slowly arriving, writes N1.

“After yesterday’s news, dozens of citizens gathered on the Skenderija plateau last night, where Đole held a great, memorable concert in 1998, and he was the first Serbian musician to come to Sarajevo after the war, holding the concert for two nights, with all the money going to charity.

The entire region is saying goodbye to this great singer-songwriter and poet, and numerous radio stations in BiH have been playing his songs all day today.

Balašević's funeral is planned for Monday in his hometown of Novi Sad, when a Day of Mourning is also expected to be declared.
