After 1995, we have the first military casualties, and no one from the Supreme Command attended the funerals

There was no terrorist attack on General Ante Jelić in the Salakovac tunnel near Mostar, and no bomb or dynamite was used in the explosion, said the duty prosecutor of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Maja Čišić, writes Patria.

However, despite this, Emir Suljagić, Deputy Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, speaking about last night's incident when a pyrotechnic device was activated in front of the car of BiH Armed Forces General Ante Jelić, said that at this moment he knows that an explosion occurred in front of the car in which Jelić was traveling.

- The car was not damaged, and he, thank God, was not injured. According to all indications, it was a pyrotechnic device. What is a problem, however, is how anyone could get close enough to the car of the Chief of the Joint Staff of the BiH Armed Forces to even look at him the wrong way, let alone throw a cannon blast.

This means that at this moment, and I am saying this as a party official, the BiH Armed Forces are not protected from an intelligence perspective. Operational and intelligence work is entrusted to other institutions that are not doing their job. For years, the BiH Armed Forces have been asking OSA to allow us to second a liaison officer in accordance with signed agreements, who would maintain close contact and coordinate information related to the intelligence security of the BiH Armed Forces. They are behaving like mannequins, and it is a deeply politicized institution – said Suljagić.

He added that he is sure that with the new appointments of police agency leaders, things will only get worse.

- Only today and yesterday we are learning about some prayer rooms in Nedžarići and Boljakov Potok on the outskirts of Sarajevo. We also learned about the son-in-law of Enes Omeragić and that he returned from Syria, but only after two people were killed. And generally, I think the level of threat is such that it calls for radical reforms in the intelligence and security sector. The BiH Armed Forces are currently the only credible institution in BiH that fights terrorism outside its borders – emphasized Suljagić, adding that he has no mechanisms to protect himself in BiH.

The Deputy Minister also referred to the situation in the region and asked if anyone knew what would happen to someone if they looked at the Chief of the Serbian Army Ljubiša Diković or General Lovrić in Croatia the wrong way.

- He would be wiped out if he threw a cannon blast in front of their car – added Suljagić.

The car in which General Jelić was traveling had military license plates.

- How could anyone know and approach. After all, he didn't have to know, even if it was someone's recklessness, how could that person approach the car of the Chief of the Joint Staff without anyone even looking at him the wrong way. That car has no escort, and in the entire defense system, only the Minister of Defense has a personal escort, but no protection while driving – added Suljagić.

Then the Deputy Minister of Defense also touched upon yesterday's funerals of the murdered soldiers Almir Salkić and Nedeljko Radić.

- For the first time since 1995, we have lost two soldiers, they are our first casualties, and not a single member of our Supreme Command, our supreme commander, appeared at the funeral in Nevesinje, nor at the funeral in Vitez. The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina is our supreme commander – added Suljagić, explaining that the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina will not leave the families of the murdered alone.
