MPs in no hurry: No agreement, financing problems of the RTV system continue

Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, acting as a commission, failed to reach an agreement on the request of MP Mirsad Mešić to consider the Proposal for a law amending the Law on the Public Radio-Television System of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under an urgent procedure, Patria reports.

The Collegium includes Šefik Džaferović, Borjana Krišto, and Mladen Bosić.

It is evident that even on February 16, when the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina convenes, there will be neither the will nor the majority to urgently resolve the financing problems of the Public RTV systems.

We recall that at the last session, the request of MP Mirsad Mešić to consider the Proposal for a law amending and supplementing the Law on the Public RTV system under an urgent procedure was not accepted. In the first round of voting, he did not have the entity majority from the Republika Srpska, and the second round of voting was not even held because the Collegium of the House of Representatives did not reach an agreement on it.

Now we have no agreement among the Collegium members on urgency either.

The Proposal for the law was submitted at the request of MP Mirsad Mešić (SDP) and stipulates that the current method of collecting the RTV fee through telecom operators be extended until December 31, 2017.
