Sent aid to Lukavac because the population was infected by water, instead of praise they received criticism

The authorities of Tuzla and Gračanica sent several trucks of clean water for the residents of the local community Poljice in the municipality of Lukavac, but instead of praise they received criticism from the local Civil Protection, Patria reports.

More than a hundred residents of this place sought medical help a few days ago, due to high body temperature and vomiting, because they were infected by water from the local reservoir. An epidemic of enterocolitis has been declared in this local community. Hundreds of residents were left without drinking water.

Edin Delić, one of the organizers of water delivery for the affected population, told the news agency Patria that he was taken aback after the local Civil Protection issued a statement criticizing all those who were helping the affected people.

- The infection occurred at the end of last week. We immediately acted and went to help the unfortunate people. During that time, the premises of the Civil Protection in Lukavac were locked. Then the weekend came, and again no one was working at the Civil Protection. We were with the people during that time and helping them. On Monday, the heads of the Civil Protection held a meeting, we expected praise, but instead we received criticism – said Dedić.

The Civil Protection in Lukavac is run by members of the Party of Democratic Action. Given that local elections are being held in Bosnia and Herzegovina in just over a month, Dedić believes that the Civil Protection of Lukavac assessed that the delivery of water from neighboring municipalities as well as from private individuals is a bad message for the local SDA.
