Demolished in 1992: Newly built Zamlaz Mosque opened

In Zvornik, on Saturday, October 25, 2014, a ceremony was held for the operational opening of the Zamlaz mosque, which was demolished in 1992. On its foundations, local authorities built a residential building after the war. The newly built mosque has the same appearance as the demolished mosque, but it is located in a new location, not far from the original one, the Mufti's Office of Tuzla Canton announced, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The mosque was restored by the endowment of sisters Fauzija and Neima El-Belul from Kuwait, through the organization "Revival of Islamic Heritage" from Kuwait.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Tuzla Mufti Vahid-ef. Fazlović and Mahmud el-Nedždi, director of the Balkan Office of the Kuwaiti organization, unveiled a plaque with the names of the benefactors.

A suitable mevlud program followed, performed by imams of the Majlis of the Islamic Community Zvornik. On behalf of the hosts, Haris-ef. Mustajbašić, chief imam of the Majlis of the Islamic Community Zvornik, addressed the attendees, stating that this day is special for Bosniak returnees. He emphasized that they symbolically chose the first day of the new Hijri year for this ceremony. He said they are happy that this mosque has also been restored, with which the Bosniaks of Zvornik gain another facility where they will be called to good.

- That is what we all desperately need at this time. Given that this is an operational opening of the mosque, we will be even happier when this mosque is fully functional. For now, certain activities will be carried out in it to serve its purpose - said Mustajbašić.

On behalf of the organization "Revival of Islamic Heritage", the director of the Balkan Office, Mahmud el-Nedždi, also addressed the attendees at this ceremony. He pointed out that through this organization, 65 mosques have been restored in Bosnia and Herzegovina. And today, they take care of about 4,000 orphans in BiH.

Vahid-ef. Fazlović, the Tuzla Mufti, also addressed the ceremony, emphasizing in his speech that this is a blessed day because it promotes benevolence based on faith in Allah, swt. After almost 25 years, on the occasion of the new Hijri year, the lights were lit on all three city mosques of Zvornik.

- That is a sign of our progress - reminded Mufti Fazlović. In his address, he also conveyed greetings from the Reis-ul-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović, and thanked the people of Kuwait, especially the benefactors, the El-Belul sisters. The prayer, at the end of the ceremony, was recited by its last imam, Šefko-ef. Sulejmanović.

In Zvornik, in addition to the Zamlaz Mosque, the central city mosque Rijeka and the Beksuja mosque have also been restored, which were also demolished during the aggression against BiH, reports Patria.
