(Patria) - The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) called on the BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović and the parties of the Trojka, for whom he was a candidate, to align their policies regarding attacks on BiH, or to clearly explain to the public where they disagree.
The current situation in which Bećirović rhetorically "plays hard" towards Dodik and Čović, while the Trojka servilely fulfills the wishes of SNSD and HDZ with concrete moves, only anesthesizes the public and dampens justified reactions, the SDA states.
In addition to being a member of the BiH Presidency, Bećirović is also the vice-president of the SDP. Therefore, he cannot pretend to have no influence on the harmful policy that his party is pursuing.
"If he truly has no influence on the SDP's policy, let him say so clearly and distance himself from the SDP. Because that policy is in complete opposition to what he publicly represents," the SDA announced.
They believe that Bećirović's positions are more or less correct, known from before and expected, mostly within the framework of caring for his own PR and public rating. However, the SDA adds, the state does not benefit much from nice statements, letters, and non-binding conclusions.
On the other hand, the SDA also states, the state suffers irreparable damage from the moves taken by Bećirović's party colleagues and coalition partners.
"It is clear that Bećirović cannot stop SNSD and HDZ alone, but he can stop SDP and Trojka. The key question is why he avoids clearly opposing and defending the interests of the state.
While Bećirović advocates for sanctions and the removal of Dodik, the Trojka is working with Dodik on the so-called 'de-escalation plan', which is a euphemism for new concessions and trade at the expense of the state.
Even more drastic is the example of the duplicitous attitude towards HDZ. While the Trojka clearly states that it is ready to elect a candidate without any judicial experience to the Constitutional Court of BiH at the dictate of HDZ, Bećirović writes statements and gives interviews in which he opposes it, but does nothing concrete to stop such an appointment.
If he truly stands behind the statements that a candidate without judicial experience should not be elected to the Constitutional Court of BiH at the dictate of HDZ, then the least Bećirović must do is use his influence in his parent party and ensure that a portion of SDP MPs listen to their own conscience, and not Nikšić, Konaković, and Forto. Without this, everything will be ordinary, well-rehearsed demagoguery," the SDA statement concludes.
