Family Doctors Against E-Records: We Will Have Less Time for Patients

The Coordination of Croatian Family Doctors is concerned about the way e-records are being introduced and filled out. They believe that due to e-records, they will have less time for patients due to increased administration, reports the Patria News Agency.

We have repeatedly warned and appealed to the Ministry of Health and the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO) to reduce the administrative burden on family doctors so that they can fully dedicate themselves to patients and their needs. The way e-records are intended to be filled out will lead to the exact opposite – doctors will have far less time for patients.

KoHOM finds such a situation completely unacceptable. Computerization of a system should mean finding new solutions to reduce administration, not increasing it at the expense of those most responsible for patients.

If the HZZO's recommendations were to be implemented, meaning if family doctors followed the HZZO's instructions on the application of e-records, they would be able to see only about ten patients per day in their practice.

The e-record is not provided for in any article of any valid law, and since family doctors are responsible for the health record (electronic entry), it is completely unacceptable for doctors to assume legal responsibility for potential lawsuits.

We inform our dear patients that we are unable to provide a correct explanation and direct them to contact the HZZO for accurate information. Therefore, we also warn the Croatian public and the authorities in the Ministry of Health and HZZO that we cannot accept working under such conditions, according to the statement, writes Index.
