Porić: Mandić violated the Sarajevo Agreement, citizens are dissatisfied and he lost support in the Municipal Council

(Patria) - Head of the Councilors' Club in the Municipal Council Hidajet Porić spoke today regarding the recall of the Mayor of Centar Municipality Srđan Mandić, and in his address he reminded that the Sarajevo Agreement, which the parties of the troika refer to, was violated.

"At the session held by the Centar Municipal Council in mid-July, Mayor Mandić spent nearly an hour listing projects carried out by the municipal administration. However, painting an X mark on a roadway, installing a traffic mirror or a no-parking sign cannot be considered a project; it can rather insult the intelligence and expectations of citizens. The Centar Municipality has an annual budget of 80 million marks, and citizens are demanding from us, increasingly loudly and with full right, that accumulated problems be resolved and significant projects be implemented," states Porić.

He emphasizes that it was precisely through the Sarajevo Agreement that they promised citizens the digitalization of processes in public administration, especially the digitalization of issuing construction and other permits.

"We haven't moved a single step forward. We also committed to the development of modern infrastructure, including enhanced support for landslide remediation projects, 'not a single gravel road,' clean, tidy and safe riverbeds, at least one recycling yard, intensifying the conservation and demolition of abandoned and damaged buildings, etc. We haven't shown anything there either, zero. Our roads are in such a state that we no longer know which ones we can even call asphalted and which gravel roads.

Clean, tidy and safe riverbeds! A little over a month ago, due to problems with stormwater and inadequately maintained riverbeds, Nahorevo was almost completely under water. We promised recycling yards, but the number of illegal dumpsites is growing. As for the conservation and demolition of abandoned and damaged buildings, 100 meters from the seat of the Centar Municipality, a building collapsed a few months ago, where only by sheer luck did it pass without casualties, but it caused a collapse and multi-week traffic jams on the main road," he states.

Water in every home is perhaps the biggest promise we made, says Porić, and we haven't fulfilled that either.

"We even managed to render some projects of the previous administration meaningless. Namely, in 2019, a new water supply system in Nahorevo was put into operation, and the Municipality had a company engaged to maintain it. The Municipality no longer has a company maintaining that water supply, a new public call has not been issued, and since the beginning of July, the water has no longer been drinkable. It is now technical water.

I am not proud of the nearly three years spent in the Municipal Council, which was humiliated and degraded by the mayor to such an extent that I am embarrassed to even speak; some words like 'be quiet,' 'you're boring,' and the like have already been made public. The Sarajevo Agreement, but also a correct relationship and etiquette, imply that questions from councilors who sit here on behalf of citizens should be answered, even in cases when you don't like those questions. The mayor comes and goes from Collegium and Council sessions as he pleases, answers only what he wants, and the Council's initiatives, even those supported by colleagues and certified with his signature, sometimes are valid only until the moment it suits him or he needs them," Porić stated, among other things.

The Head of the NIP Councilors' Club said that this is not an attack on the mayor and municipal administration, but a way to check and review the (in)action of an official who has already lost his support in the Municipal Council - the representative body of citizens.
