INCREASE COMPARED TO 2024: One million tourist overnight stays recorded in Sarajevo in seven months

(Patria) - The tourist season in Sarajevo Canton continues to record excellent results in July 2025 as well. According to statistical data from the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton, 108,188 guests were recorded in July, representing an increase of 2.5% compared to July last year. Of that number, 98,960 were foreign and 9,228 domestic guests. The total number of overnight stays in July amounts to 235,855, of which 215,956 are foreign and 19,899 domestic overnight stays, representing a growth of 0.9% compared to July 2024.

The most tourists came from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Croatia, Serbia, the USA, China, Slovenia, Germany, the United Kingdom and the UAE.

Cumulatively, for the period January – July 2025, the number of tourists in Sarajevo Canton amounts to 474,138, which is an increase of 8.4% compared to the same period last year. The total number of overnight stays amounts to 1,064,495, which is an increase of a significant 14.3% compared to the same period in 2024, and this is the first time that more than one million overnight stays have been recorded as early as the seventh month.

“These data confirm that Sarajevo, despite the challenges in the region, remains an attractive and competitive tourist destination. A quality offer, numerous summer events, a festival atmosphere, improved air connectivity and continuous promotion have contributed to such results. We express satisfaction with the achieved figures and announce further activities on improving the offer, promoting mountain tourism and preparations for the autumn and winter season,” emphasized Haris Fazlagić, president of the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton.
