The Center for Ecology and Natural Resources “Academician Sulejman Redžić” submitted a report to the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of KS, stating an increase in pollen concentration in the air in the Sarajevo Canton area.
According to data from the Pofalići and Stari Grad measuring stations, linden pollen, as well as pollen from grasses and weeds such as sorrel, nettle, and plantain – plant species that are among the strongest allergens – have been detected in the air.
The Center warns that weather conditions, including occasional showers during the first half of the week, may temporarily reduce pollen concentration. However, an increase in temperatures and more sunny intervals are expected from Thursday, which will favor more intense pollination, especially of linden and grasses.
“These conditions could lead to a sudden increase in pollen concentration in urban areas, where linden is very widespread,” the Center points out.
Due to the high allergenic potential of the detected plant species, citizens sensitive to pollen are recommended to:
- avoid staying outdoors in the morning hours,
- wear protective masks when going out,
- regularly monitor the Center's Pollen Bulletin.
For up-to-date information on the concentrations of allergenic plants in the air, citizens can visit the official website of the Center or follow their profiles on the social networks Facebook and Instagram.
