Increase in tourist numbers in Sarajevo, this year is breaking records

(Patria) - The number of tourists and overnight stays in the Canton of Sarajevo during the first half of 2024 is higher compared to the same period in 2023.

“According to current statistical data, it is evident that the current year 2024 could break previous records, as we already have a significant increase in the first half of the year compared to last year,” confirmed Haris Fazlagić, president of the Tourist Board of the Canton of Sarajevo.

According to statistical data from the Tourist Board of the Canton of Sarajevo, during June 2024, there was a 55% increase in tourist arrivals, while overnight stays were 53% higher compared to June 2023.

We are recording statistical increases in arrivals and overnight stays in the first half of this year, when the Canton of Sarajevo was visited by 34% more tourists, and 30% more overnight stays were achieved compared to the same period last year.

During the mentioned period, the highest number of tourists were recorded from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Croatia, UAE, Serbia, Slovenia, Germany, China, Montenegro, and the USA.

“It is our great satisfaction and motivation for better and more successful work that the Canton of Sarajevo is experiencing a recovery after the difficult period of the coronavirus pandemic and inflation, which significantly affected the tourism industry globally,” added Fazlagić.
